Bites here and there…

I have been playing with The Shining Tribe Tarot by Rachel Pollack. It is a deck that I was never attracted to when it was first released, but currently I am loving in. I managed to get a very cheap kit, and the book is great. Part of the reason why I decided to look at this deck again, was another book of Rachel’s called The Forest of Souls, which features this deck among others. I am reading the books by dipping in and having bites here and there – sometimes it’s the only way.

Anyway, I knitted a bag, in gorgeous thick wool in a kind of warm apricot pink… to celebrate the joy and colours of the shining tribe…

  1. Y’know, despite being a fan of Rachel Pollack’s work, I’ve never checked this deck out. The photo you’ve included makes me curious – I’m attracted to the simple almost childlike imagery and knowing Pollack’s written work I’m sure it’s laden with hidden symbols to unpick…

How are you doing with it? Do you recommend it to someone who really likes to keep their decks to a minimum and only invest in decks they know they will really love?

    1. I was like you Beth, regarding The Shining Tribe, it came up at a great price and so I went for it because I am fascinated by the art. I did make her a bag but haven’t really had time to explore further as college is full on right now. I think maybe you should wait… I often think about what decks I would choose if I had to pare right down, I know one would be the Wild Unknown, Borderless Deviant Moon, Bohemian Gothic, Ludy Lescot… there are always more, I have eclectic taste but the ones I love always stay close!

      1. Thanks for the advice Bobby…I will hold off. It’s so tempting to buy buy buy each time you see a new deck…but I really do want a pared down collection of decks I truly love. xx
